TechSmith's Camtasia Studio 4.0, a completely professional, state-of-the-art, Screen Recorder/Video Editor software program, is now available for download from the TechSmith website for a 30-day trial period. The Camtasia trial version contains all the features of the full product version, as well as all necessary downloads and updates. With this program in hand, creating videos, online presentations, product tutorials, and much, much more is literally right at your fingertips. Simply put, Camtasia Studio 4.0 stands miles above other, similar products and is a truly amazing program.
After a quick installation, the Camtasia program instantly offers a set of audio/video tutorials, one for each feature offered. Each tutorial is provided with both a detailed version that explains each process step-by-step, and a quick, 5-step-or-less version for those familiar with the process and are anxious to get to work. I toggled back and forth between tutorials to grasp as much information as I could.
The documentation provided with the Camtasia program software, as well as the obvious hands-on training, will guide even the most inexperienced user along a path that is normally walked by only professional Recording Techs and Producers.
Five main Features highlight this software program:
- 1) the Camtasia Recorder
- 2) Camtasia MenuMaker
- 3) Camtasia Audio Editor
- 4) Camtasia Theatre
- 5) the Camtasia Player.
Each one holds its own special role in the making or creating of your Media Project. As you move along within your Project, the user quickly sees it come to life, whereby receiving an instant gratification reward to ensure that the software actually performs as promised. I can honestly say, from experience, it does as promised - and then some!
My Project assignment was to record a Voice-Over, or Narration, using my voice, and in replacement of the original, a four minute tutorial explaining the popular software program Alcohol 120%. I began by choosing "Open a New Project" from the File dropdown menu, and then choosing "Import Media" to gather the files I needed from another folder in my computer to the center Clip Bin. At the bottom of the screen is a video and audio timeline, and, to the right, is a Screen Player for viewing the Video to which you will be adding your voice.
When you are ready, the user may click "Record", speak into a microphone, and follow, with your vocals, the moving video tutorial, instantly recording in real-time. Again, a comprehensive FAQ, as well as the tutorials, and a link to the TechSmith website can be quickly accessed from the "tools" option on the toolbar whenever needed.
The Camtasia Studio timeline is the one element that may provide the most anxiety. As the user speaks, the vocals appear in the bottom Audio timeline as waves, with countered, stopping points that may be saved, stopped, edited, replayed, enhanced, etc. Thankfully, the Timeline has its own Help symbol for easy access to quick information. As difficult as this part may seem, once you have completed the process, and become familiar with stopping and starting the wavs, you will feel great pride in your accomplishment. The end result, which can be edited, enhanced, and mixed with a multitude of effects with the Camtasia Audio Editor, is a tutorial nothing short of what a trained professional could create.
The following are just a few bullets highlighting the endless possibilities of the Camtasia Audio feature:
* Record voice narration and system audio
* Record layered windows and application interaction.
* Record all elements of a PowerPoint presentation, including animations
* Record mouse clicks and keystrokes.
* Pre-Production features allow for previewing audio levels and sounds
* Use of time-lapse recording
The Camtasia Theatre features all the options you would find in any professional movie production studio. The user may import still pictures - and bring them to life - or download digital video files. A window pop-up allows you to add Text in any font, color, or style as, for example, in a Title Clip, and "transition" options, such as fading, checker boarding, and many more, allow you to pick exactly how one clip should transition into the next. Vivid, bright colors are available, as well as the option of creating Custom colors from a special color/hue pallet, audio enhancements can be added along the way, special effects, and just about anything you desire. A nice storyboard runs at the bottom for dragging clips directly from the Clip Bin, importing media from other folders, and then inserting your chosen items in the exact order for "telling your story".
I could write indefinitely about this amazing, top-quality, software program and the endless possibilities it offers, but there simply is not room in this review. A complete listing of all the available options and features can be viewed at the TechSmith website, along with reviews, press releases, and many tips/tricks to get you started. Anyone can be a professional Audio/Video producer with Camtasia Studio 4.0.0
There was only 1 single complaint about Camtasia Studio, and it was not the software.
I contacted Techsmith on 2 occasions and never received any reply, I do hope that this is simply down to email problems these days but I did request a reply to 2 separate accounts.
Purchasing options for Camtasia Studio 4.0 are listed on the website. Currently, a single-user license is running $299.00, and a five-user license is running for $1195.00. While may sound pricy, if you plan on creating media productions for career/hobby on a regular basis, you simply can do no better than Camtasia Studio 4.0.
