Swift To-Do List | Swift To-Do List v. 6.87 by Charles Akin 17th Dec 08 |
Dextronet offers "Swift To-Do List" for $44.95 USD per copy. In my opinion the price is in line with the product deliverables. You can pay less for to-do list software, but they are usually restrictive in how they can be used, or they lack the functionality needed to customize your list the way you want it.

I have been using a to-do list for as long as I can remember. My list is essential to my productivity. As technology advances, “to-do list” are becoming more sophisticated and indeed more useful.
Over the years I have used to-do list tools that were included in the software bundled on the personal computers that I purchased. These tools were restrictive and forced me to manage my to-do list in ways that were not natural to me. I was never satisfied with them. Fortunately, about six months ago, I discovered David Allen's "Getting Things Done"™ methodology. This discovery did two things. First, it greatly improved how well I manage my tasks, and second, it helped me clearly define the type of to-do list software that I really needed – one that would let me let me apply the GTD methodology without a lot of hassle. It did not take me long to find many “to-do” software programs that would facilitate my use of GTD. Ultimately I decided to give “Swift To-Do List” version 6.87 a try. I’m glad I did. This program is easy to use, and is feature rich. “Swift To-Do” is a product from Dextronet. With Swift To-Do List the user can easily create an individualized task management system using the "Explorer"™ like user interface screen. I found the main interface to be very easy to use. I was able to create several folders and sub-folders, and populate them with tasks in just a few minutes. I am a very visual person, so I really appreciate the large variety of icons that I can assign to my folders and sub folders. I also like that I can visually enhance my tasks by using colored fonts. By the way, the built in word processor is full featured and offers a wide variety of ways to format the task notes. The "Add Task" function makes it simple to create new "to-do list" tasks, set reminders for them, add task notes, add attachments and add them to your folder/s. I am a bit disappointed that the "reminder" feature does not send me email and text notices, but maybe Dextronet will add that later. It is very easy to organize your tasks using the main interface screen. To move a file from its existing folder to another, simply click on the task in the “task pane” and drag it to the desired folder in the “folder pane” If you would like to add an existing task to an additional folder, right click on the task and select the "Copy To" option. Like other "To-Do" software, "Swift To-Do List" provides the ability to assign Priority, Type and Due Dates to every task, and the task list can be sorted in task name, priority, type, or due date order, by clicking on the column header. "Swift To-Do List" provides a basic task filtering function and a very useful “print/ export” function. I am very impressed with the multitude of options available for filtering and formatting tasks for output. As I mentioned earlier, I bought my copy (v6.87) several months ago. Since that time Dextronet has released v6.99. I plan to upgrade soon. Dextronet also has a web-based version that I’m anxious to try. Dextronet offers "Swift To-Do List" for $44.95 USD per copy. In my opinion the price is in line with the product deliverables. You can pay less for to-do list software, but they are usually restrictive in how they can be used, or they lack the functionality needed to customize your list the way you want it. You can also pay more for to-do list software, but beware, some of them are complicated to use, and in many cases they are simply overkill. If you are in need of a good to-do list software, I suggest that you test drive a “Swift To-Do List”. Login to their site and download a free trial copy. |
